5.22. COBRA-Key+Shift+G: Label graphics

COBRA-Key+Shift+G opens a dialog where graphics can be labelled.

When delivered, many graphics in standard programs are already labelled. Graphics which are not labelled are not shown in the standard settings. Only when you have activated the control field “Show unlabelled graphics” in the “General” dialog of the COBRA Menu or used COBRA-Key+G to switch on the display of unlabelled graphics, will the unlabelled graphics be displayed. The speech output will say “Graphic”, and “UG” will appear on the Braille Display .

Now you can use COBRA-Key+Shift+G to assign text to these unlabelled graphics.

When you have typed this command a dialog will open containing all the graphics from the previously displayed screen. It contains both labelled and unlabelled graphics.

Use the Up arrow and Down arrow to browse through the list of graphics.

In the list the graphic itself is displayed first, followed by any existing text; at the end you will find the line and column number of the graphic. Line- and column-numbers are given in pixels from the top left.

Use TAB to access the “Braille text” and “Spoken text” buttons with which you can define the text to be displayed on the Braille display or spoken over the speech output.

You will also find the “Apply” button which saves the text you input.

Use the “Apply to all” button further down to determine whether or not the graphic should be labelled globally (i.e. in all applications) or just for this particular program.

If activated (the default setting), the graphic will be labelled for every program.
