9.8. Tips on using Skype

Tips on using Skype 2.0 / 2.5 and 3.x

Skype is a program which allows you to chat and make telephone calls over the Internet, and to make video calls.

We have brought together some information about using Skype in conjunction with COBRA.

Configuring Skype

All default settings can be retained, especially the “Default Skype” display in the Chat window.

By default, pressing “Return” in the Contact list will automatically call the relevant contact. For those who chat frequently, go to Options/General and change the settings so that the Chat window will be opened instead.

Tip:

the Options dialog is in the “Actions” menu.

COBRA commands in Skype

At the moment there are no specific COBRA commands in Skype.

Skype key combinations

Skype menus have no underlined letters for direct selection, but the following keys can be used:

Search contacts: type in part of the name, Skype name or email.

Press Enter or click on “Search” and a list of participants will appear.

Use the context menu to add the desired contact to your personal contacts and/or make a call etc.
