7.2.2. Configuration of Microsoft Windows Vista

The following settings should be adopted in Windows Vista . They will allow for problem-free use of COBRA.

The following settings must be made before installation if you are not logged on as ADMINISTRATOR.

  1. Switch the Windows Vista UAC off.

    Tip:
There is no point calling up the installation program under Windows Vista as a normal user – you must call it up as administrator (“Start as administrator”).

    Proceed as follows:

    • Press the Windows key to open the Start menu.

    • Type “Control Panel”, and press Return – the Control Panel will now open.

    • Use all the arrow keys to access “User accounts” and press Return.

    • Use TAB to go to
      “Manage user accounts on/off”
      and press Return.

    • If necessary go to
“User Manage User Accounts to help with the security of your computer”

    • Switch this off by pressing the space bar.

    • Use TAB to go to “OK”, and press Return.
